‘Revival is more than a series of meetings, revival is cultivated and carried in the hearts of all who yield to the power and presence of the Holy Spirit to transform us to be carriers of His Glory wherever we go. Revival is not meant to be a temporary state of being. God is looking for revival people who will open their hearts to the King of Glory, and create a permanent dwelling for perpetual revival to touch the earth. You are called to carry revival! Step into His glory and let the river flow in your heart, your family, your city and your nation.’

Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.” Luke 2

when i give God the highest glory, He gives me His deepest peace. steven furtick

last night i didnt sleep that well.  its summer here in New Zealand and humid and hot.  and i had my shortest one beside me after an allergic reaction to something.  and she likes wiggling and cuddles.  so i took the opportunity to listen to some preaching and fill my heart with challenge, worship and good things.

last night i listened to two messages by steven furtick from luke 2.

i had read on twitter multiple tweets with the above quote and thought “that’s nice” but i didnt really get it. until i heard the two messages and heard the quote unpacked. and its good.

in my words – as we prioritize God – when i give God the highest glory – when i put Him first and worship Him, then i open myself to His intervention and His peace and His ways – He gives me His deepest peace.  when i give God the highest glory then i fix my eyes upon Him and surrender to Him i see things with a different perspective – i see things from HIS perspective and trust Him and know my life is in His good hands – then i have peace in my life because i am walking with Him, trusting my heavenly Father.

how do we give glory to God in the highest?

1.  we have see God’s Word as the highest authority.

2.  we have to see God’s purpose as the highest priority.

God’s Word must be elevated to the place where it is the last word in our lives.

God’s Word is the final authority in our lives.

What God says goes.

What God says is the way it is.

we live in a world that rejects authority.  even christians buck at the authority of God sometimes.  we dont want people – anyone – even God sometimes (!) – how we should live our life.  we want to reject black and white in favour of gray.

when it was a matter of our preferences vs His Way and His will we often bow down to the altar of self. steven furtick

God’s Word is the highest authority.  not our feelings.  not our preferences.

BUT GOD’S WORD SAYS is the rock we build our life on.

BUT GOD’S WORD SAYS when i am tempted there is a way out and i can withstand it.

BUT GOD’S WORD SAYS when i am lonely that God is with me.

BUT GOD’S WORD SAYS when i am struggling in trial that fire and flood will not overcome me.

BUT GOD’S WORD SAYS when i am weary and worried that i can cast my cares on Him and find rest.

To live by faith you’re going to need to become very familiar with your bible. you’re going to need to saturate your mind with the Word of God. if your faith isnt rooted in God’s promises, its not scriptural faith. Prioritize the presence of God in your daily life. – steven furtick – Sun stand still

God is Lord.  not us. not our feelings.  we MUST live by what HE says.  in every way in every day.

but as we give God the highest glory – as we surrender to His Lordship and build our lives on His Word and ways – He blesses us and rewards us.  There IS reward for those who seek God and follow Him.

when we build our lives on God’s Word then we see a greater purpose for the things we go through and His ways become our priority.  when we build our lives on WHO God IS – glorious, mighty, all powerful, loving, compassionate, creative – we have peace and confidence because we know He is great and good and that He is our Father.   i have to see Him as the highest authority and make Him the highest priority.

Exodus 33:7-11 Moses used to set up a tent far from camp. He called it the ” meeting tent,” and whoever needed some message from the LORD would go there. Each time Moses went out to the tent, everyone would stand at the entrance to their own tents and watch him enter.   Then they would bow down because a thick cloud would come down in front of the tent, and the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, just like a friend. Afterwards, Moses would return to camp, but his young assistant Joshua would stay at the tent.

Exodus 33:17-23

So the LORD told him, ” I will do what you have asked, because I am your friend and I am pleased with you.”

Then Moses said, ” I pray that you will let me see you in all of your glory.”

The LORD answered:

All right. I am the LORD, and I show mercy and kindness to anyone I choose. I will let you see my glory and hear my holy name, but I won’t let you see my face, because anyone who sees my face will die. There is a rock not far from me. Stand beside it, and before I pass by in all of my shining glory, I will put you in a large crack in the rock. I will cover your eyes with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back. You will not see my face.

Exodus 34:5-6 The LORD God came down in a cloud and stood beside Moses there on the mountain. God spoke his holy name, ” the LORD.” Then he passed in front of Moses and called out, ” I am the LORD God. I am merciful and very patient with my people. I show great love, and I can be trusted.

Perhaps it will be your experience that soon after you have decided to die to a more external life and have moved toward His high mountain you will feel as though nothing is working in your favour. Be sure that, if this is the case in your life, your enemy will come to you with suggestion , unclean thoughts, impatience, pride, rage, cursing, confusion and much more. Perhaps you will even feel a distaste for the things of God. Do not be afraid. These times and these things have a purging effect. You will grow in a sense of your own unworthiness, and in a realization for the need for your outward appetites to be dealt with. Molinos from 100 Days in the Secret Place

I am sure we can all relate to the experience of deciding to press into God and draw closer to Him, or a “promotion” in ministry that fires us up – and then it feels as if life crowds down on us and all the nasties come out to play. Our patience is tried. Our willingness to serve is examined. There are misunderstandings, disappointments, challenges. We felt pumped up and able to all things and come to that realization that we are humans, just humans like everyone else and that it is God who is able to do all things, and that he uses “cracked pots” to do it… the key is to realize that this is the process that we all go through as children of God and that the cracks don’t disqualify us, rathr they are used for the gory of God and our transformation.

2 Crinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us;

Sometimes being human freaks us out. We think we have got “passed” all those things, that we were more mature or closer to God. It isn’t a matter of how good and close our relationship with God is. It is a matter of our flesh being exposed even more so we can again subject it to the cross, die to our flesh, put on Jesus afresh.

Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not take thought beforehand for the lusts of the flesh. This is a conscious and constant choice we make – choosing to obey God rather than the desires we have. Choosing to react and act as Jesus would, than as what reaction might happen first. Choosing to love and forgive than to hold a grudge. Choosing to put others first and serve rather than our own ambitions. Choosing to let God open the door to opportunities rather than trying just to “make friends and influence people”

Ephesians 4:22 For you ought to put off the old man (according to your way of living before) who is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. And you should put on the new man, who according to God was created in righteousness and true holiness. Therefore putting away lying, let each man speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down upon your wrath, neither give place to the Devil.
