you may have seen this list… it is a list of bible refernces and statments about who we are as christians – the benefits and blessings we have as christians… and i think it is really important that we “get it” – that we know who we are as chrsitians, so we can live in that freedom and grace and relationship with God. so many of us have hang ups about whether God loves us or things like that… if we get who we are, and how we are related to God, and his work in our life, then that is all good! here are a few of my favs…. and then the rest of the list…

One of the most important things we can do in our recovery is to embrace our new identity and see ourselves through Jesus’ eyes . . . i.e., who you and I are “in Christ.” Below are listed (with supporting Scripture) just a few of the many TRUTHS contained in the Bible concerning our secure position in Christ Jesus. The facts are there . . . all we need to do is believe them!!

I have put off the old man and have put on the new man, which is renewed in the knowledge after the image of Him Who created me (Colossians 3:9,10).

For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
It is not I who live, but Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20).

I have this exact same list! heh! I read it out loud most everyday!
Yes it is so very important that we know who we are ‘in Christ’! It’s the key to living a victorious Christian life. When we know who we are ‘in Him’ nothing and no one can defeat us.
In the words of Kenneth E. Hagin (referring to 2Corinthians 5:17):
“Notice the expression ‘in Christ’. What a revolutionary thing that is for believers to believe and confess! We are new creatures in Christ Jesus. We are not just forgiven sinners. We are not poor, weak, staggering, sinning, barely-getting-along church members. We are new creatures, created by God in Christ Jesus. We are new creatures with the life of God, the nature of God, and the ability of God in us!”
Awesome!
p.s. my favorite from the list is:
I am called of God to be the voice of His praise (Psalm 66:8; 2 Timothy 1:9).
… so beautiful… it should be turned into a song!

hi debra – i can so relate and understand. i think most of us can. sometimes our shame and fear speaks louder than God’s love and grace, yet God’s love and grace are stronger than our fears and worry. Jesus loves us and has freed us from our sin. (revelation 1:5)
“You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.” Psalm 86:5
i always love Colossians 1:19-22 and it helps me see who i am, in Christ, because of His work and love and grace,
God himself was pleased
to live fully in his Son.
20And God was pleased
for him to make peace
by sacrificing his blood
on the cross,
so that all beings in heaven
and on earth
would be brought back to God.
21You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things.
22But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent.
will be praying for you debra.
your comment also reminded me of a quote i read in a book last night… will post it now…
