photo-1434030216411-0b793f4b4173God made my life complete
when I placed all the pieces before him.
When I got my act together,
he gave me a fresh start.
Now I’m alert to God’s ways;
I don’t take God for granted.
Every day I review the ways he works;
I try not to miss a trick.
I feel put back together,
    and I’m watching my step.
God rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.

Psalm 18:20-24 MSG

Love God and Love People - These are the two greatest commandments. (Does not mean that you condone bad actions, you are to just love as Christ Jesus has loved us, and God loves Jesus)

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35

By THIS people will know that you belong to me.

By LOVE.

Not by works.

Not by impressive leadership.

Not by a great show.

Not by excellence.

Not by anything else.

But our love.

Our love for one another shows that God is real and that we belong to Him.

Love means we have to let the walls down and let people in.

We need to be intentional about connections and meaningful in our conversations.

Vulnerability, trust, grace, hope, service are hallmarks of love.

Love.

Our lives and our churches should be places where people see and feel love.  People need love.  The world is starved for love and people look in all the wrong places.   The church is where they should see it demonstrated and lived.

By this all the world will know that we are His.

Right now in Christ, you have unlimited resources, unceasing strength, unequaled peace, unfailing help — so you can face anything unafraid.

1 Peter 1:3

There are so many ways to read the Word of God. Plans.  Studies.  Commentaries.  Surface.  Depth.  Paper or digital?

Despite the options and the styles important thing is that your find your own rhythm and that you JUST DO IT.  That you read it, not to check off a tick box or get a gold star, but that you read it to hear the voice and words of God.

The Bible is God breathed, God written, God inspired.  His words to you are life, breath, hope, peace, guidance, challenge, personal.

Recently I finished reading Louie Giglio’s book, I am not but I know I am.

i adore Louie, he is a master wordsmith and his evident love for Jesus so radiates through every word, written or spoken.

In the book, Louie Giglio shares something called the One Word Bible Study method. It is an intriguing way to look at verses in the Bible in which you prayerfully meditate over ONE word of a verse each day (yes, just ONE word for a day) until God reveals His message and power through that ONE word.

Louie demonstrates by using John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and WOW i loved every perspective and revelation.

At our church, The River, last night our speaker Thomas Adams challenged us to take Psalm 34 and read a verse every day.

Just one verse.

To READ IT, CHEW IT, PRAY IT, DO IT.

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
Psalm 34:1-3 #Ps34Challenge

I’ll be ONE WORDing my way through my daily verse, ears open to hear God’s personal words to me.

Watch over the next few days for other ways to read the Word of God and hear His voice…

But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 1 Corinthians 12:18

As i was reading my bible this morning this ONE THING jumped out at me.

i am positioned for God’s purpose and pleasure.

my form and function are designed by God for His pleasure and will.

who i am.

where i am.

what i am doing.

my family.

my giftings.

my personality.

all of my life.

i am positioned by God in His family and His kingdom as He has seen fit.

He is wise above wisdom and sees outside of time, so He knows the best fit.

He was happy and satisfied, willing to do it, delighted, prepared, pleased to set each member in their own specific placing.

there is a place for me.

God has made a place for me.

i belong.

do you know where you fit?

Bbeing confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

God himself was pleased
to live fully in his Son.
And God was pleased
    for him to make peace
by sacrificing his blood
    on the cross,
so that all beings in heaven
    and on earth
would be brought back to God.
You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things.  But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent.  Colossians 1:19-22 CEV

Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands

See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands

See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands

Isaiah 49:16

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that all who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  The gift of God is salvation.  Grace.  Acceptance.  Innocence.  Eternity.  Peace with God.

But even more so and more personal – His salvation is an invitation to relationship.

Its not just a golden ticket, but a welcome to be called a child of God.

To be loved, and to love.

So much so that our names are inscribed, engraved, written, tattooed, scared upon His hands.

Today, remember, YOU are loved.

Isaiah 49:16 goes on to say “your walls are continuously before Me.”  We are always in His heart.

You are on the mind of God.  You are on His radar.

He wrote your name on His hands.

#FiveMinuteFriday free write time! <—click to tweet this!

Five Minute Friday is a feature over at Lisa-Jo Bakers TALES FROM A GYPSY MAMA blog.  i first read about it on my friend Fee’s blog and thought it sounded fun!

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

OK, are you ready?

open-book

I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there-before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death-Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire.  Revelation 20:11-15

Charles Spurgeon says: “We foresee from The Word, despite its obscurity, that strange and wonderful events will happen, such as are depicted by seals and scrolls, and warriors with avenging swords, and falling stars, and shrivelled sky, and a reeling earth, and I know not what beside; but when we have put all together and have been amazed at the visions that flit before us like visions in the night, we rejoice to learn at the end of them all, “All these things are ours, whatever they may be.”

Aka the bible says the end times will be weird and wonderful, supernatural and spiritual, earth shaking and great and terrible.

There are things I don’t understand about the end times and I confess I don’t really try to, I am quite happy for God to work it all out and I’ll just watch and see and be ready.

Things like the:

Times and weeks in Daniel

The horses and the trumpets

Pre, mid or post trib – everyone has an answer… but God knows for sure!

The seals and scrolls

The things with eyes and wheels and eyes on the wheels…

But what I DO know and DO stand upon is that:

God is God -my Lord, my King, my protector, my provider, my security, my Father, my saviour, my deliver.

1 Peter 1:5 says You have faith in God whose power will protect you until the last day.

In all seasons and all times we can trust him to be all we need and more.

In fact whatever happens and in whatever timeframe – i think these two Revelation verses are key to the end times – that we should make real in our lives right now and for every day we have left.

God’s people must learn to endure. They must also obey his commands and have faith in Jesus.  Revelation 14:12

This means that God’s people must learn to endure and be faithful!  Revelation 3:10

Whatever happens and in whatever timeframe – the tribulation, the mark of the beast, the rapture, the signs and wonders in the heavens, the antichrist declaring himself, the two witnesses etc – we must learn to endure and be faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ.  That is our role.  Our job.  To be obedient Christians.  To have faith in God.  To trust Him.
