"in the future you will walk out in the fruit of your faithfulness" kim walker smith

finding your devo time hard, stuck in Leviticus?

KEEP GOING and KEEP COMING BEFORE GOD – keep being faithful and storing His Word in your spirit – because one day you’ll walk out in the fruit of your faithfulness…..

as we draw near to God, he draws near to us, this is his promise – James 4:8

sometimes we can feel our quiet times, our personal devotional time, that it doesn’t have any significance.  we come and read the Word, we come and pray and worship and talk to God but sometimes it doesn’t feel like we’re connecting much.  sometimes we really feel His presence and encounter Him and He speaks, but other times it can seem like He is silent and that we’re just reading and not being transformed spiritually.

We live by faith though, not feelings, not by sight.

each time we come and spend time with God matters, for us and to Him.

as we are faithful our relationship with Him grows.

one day we will walk and live out the fruit of our faithfulness.  we will live in the fruit that comes from spending time in the Word, in spending time in prayer, in spending time in worship.

our quiet times are not waste times, they’re not dead space.

when He speaks something comes alive in us – His Words bring life to our spirit.  They water our soul.  They satisfy our heart.  They bring strength and hope to our lives.  They guide us and help us to navigate temptation and the war waging in our flesh.

God is speaking always in our quiet times, and in a way – its like our spirit IS receiving His word in even the “dull times” and the times when He seems quiet and there is no great revelation and no great power.

don’t give up.

don’t give up.

don’t give up.

the time you spend with God matters.

and it matters because HE loves to have that time with YOU.

you are His beloved child.

He delights in YOUR presence, as a Father delights in their child.

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Ephesians 3:12

"In the pursuit of following Him, He brought my destiny to me. I didn’t have to chase my destiny. It came. My eyes fixed on Him, walking to Him and He aligns my steps" Kim Walker Smith –

When we love God and fix our eyes on Him, He orders our steps into the plans and purposes that He has for us. His promise is to complete the good work He has started!   i can be CONFIDENT in His goodness and ablenes and faithfulness!

i love this worship song.

its like it peered into my heart and sung out of it.

i need God more.

more because He is my Saviour, my hope, my strength, my peace.

He is majestic and holy, glorious and wondrous.

He holds my life in His hands and is the Shepherd of my soul.

He is the Creator of the Universe and He welcomes me to come and draw near to Him and call Him Father and experience His love.

amazing. wow.  in awe.

in Him i am found and forgiven and made new and at rest.

i love worship.  i love that it declares WHO God is and in a way aligns our heart with that… it helps our heart agree with the truth.

i think worship and music speak to the inside of us – both our spirit and our soul.

my heart agrees with this song… i need Him more.

His Words are life to me, and i so am learning the importance and reality of abiding in Him – of being close to Him and how He fills us and refreshes us.

this song has been really key in my life this month and is the cry of my heart.

kim walker 7

i’ve had this song running around in my head and heart this week…

it so resonates with me and is stirring something within me

i long for the presence of God, i long to know Him and to see Him and to love Him and worship Him and to walk with Him in greater intimacy

i believe the experiences of people in the bible are real and can be mine now

moses spoke to God face to face as a friend

he drew near and up into the thunder and lightenings of the manifest presence of God on the mountain top, the presence which freaked out the nation of israel

better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere

the way has been opened for us to draw near to God

we are innocent, holy and acceptable

because of Jesus

i am beloved and am a child of God

the Holy Spirit LIVES in me

i long for more than i have today

so i step in… i jump in… i press in… i seek God

those who hunger after Him will be filled

those who seek will find

those who draw near to Him, will be drawn near to

those who open the door to Him will have the delight of having Him come in and eat with them

wow

show me your glory Lord

show ME your glory Lord

i’m not afraid, i’m not afraid

because i am welcomed, i am accepted, i am saved, i am redeemed and reconciled

i now have peace with God

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Ephesians 3:12

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  Hebrews 4:16

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Hebrews 10:19-22

i am free

i am loved

i am welcomed

i draw near

show me Your glory Lord

let me know You

‘…. You sparkled, You blazed….You shed your fragrance and I drew my breath, and I pant for you.’ Augustine

I see the cloud, I step in
I want to see Your glory as Moses did
Flashes of light, rolls of thunder
I’m not afraid, I’m not afraid

Chorus:
Show me Your glory, show me Your glory
Show me Your glory, show me Your glory

I’m awed by Your beauty, lost in Your eyes
I want to walk in Your presence like Jesus did
Your glory surrounds me and I’m overwhelmed

I long to look on the face of the One that I love
Long to stay; in Your presence is where I belong

Oh how we love You, oh how we love You
Oh how we love You, Jesus

i always love listening to kim walker sing OH HOW HE LOVES US – esp when it gets to the point where she speaks to the crowd – its like she speaks to the very room I am in right then, with people or by myself.  last night i had a playlist for worship in housegroup.  but forgot to change the setting from SHUFFLE to play in ORDER.  but God had a plan and a set list to minister to our hearts.  the first song was I WILL EXALT by bethel worship, followed by HEALER by hillsong (a powerful declaration of trust in God, exactly what i had spoken on) and then HOW HE LOVES US.  i knew that the 3rd song would be this song when i realized that the mp4 was on shuffle.  like a just knew just knew kind of thing and that God was doing some heart surgery and working deep inside to replace a tape of lies in our head with a tape of HIS TRUTH and HIS PROMISES.

sometimes we need to re-record the tape playing in our minds. Sometimes we need to pull the tape out and rip all that brown shinny stuff out and begin again. Replace the lie with the truth of what God says about you. Because it will set you free to be you and to know His love and make Him known. “Believing God for the impossible begins with seeing the invisible – understanding what He wants to accomplish through YOU.”

so i love how HOW HE LOVES US rewrites in our hearts.  it rewrites love and belonging instead of distance and fear.  God loves us with a perfect wonderful everlasting LAVISH love.  His love never fails.  So much so that Jesus stretched out His arms on the cross to set us free and pay the penalty for our sin, to draw us close and make us family.   But if we dont KNOW that all the way in we’ll never LIVE in the freedom that brings.

we need a love encounter.

a love encounter changes things.

it changes things from the inside out.

it heals things.

it pulls out the tape of lies we tell ourselves and replaces it with the truth of God’s love

this week, hear God.

this week, hear His words of love.

this week, know His truth.

i felt really strongly before last night and during the worship that God is going to be rewriting in our hearts this week – so lets make some room for Him to speak and transform us.  Lets get into His Word and get secure in His promises.

We are not held back and restricted and limited by the i cants and the lies in our lives (even what that kid in the playground said) but we can be set free to live as God calls us to live.

He loves us and He likes us.

He has a plan and purpose for us.

He will accomplish His plans.

I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfils his purpose for me. Psalm 57:2 (dont you love how sophie was JUST RIGHT THERE OPEN TO THAT PAGE when i asked her to read that verse!)

we need a love encounter.

the more we see Him, the more we love Him.

the more we see Him, the more He can change us and get His love INTO us.

praying we all hear His voice this week

What people need is God. Encountering his power is encountering Him" Bill Johnson  brilliant quote… brilliant goal for living our lives!

isaiah40-8

Our devo time is our personal time with God – where we’re NOT just learning ABOUT Him (that is a byproduct of reading the bible) but we are learning and growing and being transformed and worshipping Him and absorbing His truth and promises.

What reflects your heart toward God is not whether you seek truth, but your response to it.

What matters isnt that we sit down and read a chapter a day or the bible through in a year but it is how we respond to it and how we allow ourselves to align with the truth of God’s Word.   We shift our own mind and our own actions to line up with what God says and the sooner we figure that out the better our lives will be.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors?
Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19

God’s Word is perfect.  Right.  The way to live our lives.

God is big, holy, loving, awesome – our heavenly Father who not only created the universe but created time.  He is the same today as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow.  He is wise.

Just because our culture says ONE thing now – doesn’t mean THAT is the right way to live.

God’s ways are often counter culture.  We belong to a different kingdom, to a different family.  We live not to please our own wants or to please people around us but to please God.

Our devo time is where we work out the way that God wants us to live our lives.  If the Word says it we do it.  The Bible shapes us, not the other way around.  We not mold the Bible to fit our own ideas.  Jesus is Lord which mens we bow down to His wants and ways.

"in the future you will walk out in the fruit of your faithfulness" kim walker smith at Intimacy Worship Conference 2010 (Te Aroha, New Zealand)

KEEP GOING and KEEP COMING BEFORE GOD – keep being faithful and storing His Word in your spirit – because one day you’ll walk out in the fruit of your faithfulness…..

as we draw near to God, he draws near to us, this is his promise – James 4:8

As we store God’s will and ways and instructions and promises and the revelation of who He is and how much He loves us into our hearts it writes like a programme for living in us.   it gives us wisdom to face things in the future.  It might not be relevant for today but it will be relevant one day.

For example – you might not be married today – that doesnt give you permission to skim over the passage in Ephesians about how to treat your husbands and wives.  you learn from it and tuck it away, store it away so that it can form your character and transform you into who God wants you to be.

Blessed are they who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart.  Psalm 119:2

How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.  Psalm 119:9

I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.  Psalm 119:11

What keeps us fighting and choosing Him and His ways above the world and ourselves is that passion fueled by the revelation that He loves us and saves us and gave His life for us, dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin.

"its hard to fight for something you’re not passionate about." Kim walker-smith (Jesus Culture) @ the Intimacy Worship Conference 2010 (Te Aroha, New Zealand)

Our devo time is time to love God and be loved by Him, to have a revelation of His love by prayer and worship and reading the Word.  We READ that God loves us and about His wonderful kindness and His grace and everlasting love and that should gladden our heart and make us want to know Him more and draw near Him more and obey Him more.

You are the master of your devo time.

Seek God.  Ask, knock, seek.  Those who ask recieve, those who seek find and those who knock have the door of the throne room of God swung open wide.  God rewards those who diligently seek Him.  The reward is Himself!

“Listen to my words:
“When a prophet of the LORD is among you,
I reveal myself to him in visions,
I speak to him in dreams.

But this is not true of my servant Moses;
he is faithful in all my house.

With him I speak face to face,
clearly and not in riddles;
he sees the form of the LORD.  Numbers 12:6-8

Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the LORD would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp.  And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke with Moses.  Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to his tent.  The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.  Exodus 33:7-11

i want to be a face to face friend of God.

i read Numbers 12 last night in my daily bible plan and my heart was stirred and moved to read that Moses SAW the form of God and spoke face to face with Him.  God says that Moses was faithful in all His house – and the reward of his faithfulness was intimacy.

In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).  Ephesians 3:12

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].  Hebrews 4:16

my life leans towards knowing God.  i press in for this purpose, to be His child, to be His friend.

any sacrifice, any bowing of my knee and will, any refinement, any transformation, is worth it to feel His embrace and pleasure.

to walk with Him on this earth as friend is a great reward!

glory-lgCommunion Message for Sunday Morning 13th June:

In communion we remember the sacrifice of Jesus and all it has won for us.

I can’t get past how Colossians 1 says it:

God himself was pleased

to live fully in his Son.

   And God was pleased

   for him to make peace

   by sacrificing his blood

   on the cross,

so that all beings in heaven

   and on earth

would be brought back to God.

You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent. (Colossians 1:19-22)

Before we were lost.

Now we are found.

Before we were separated from God because of sin.

Now we are able to stand in His presence, holy, clean, new, innocent.

Before we were rejected.

Now we are accepted.

Before we were sinners.

Now we are family.

Not because of anything we have done or could do. But all because of what Jesus did.

At communion we remember that Jesus stretched His arms out upon the cross – after being beaten, whipped, mocked, spat on, unjustly convicted – He stretched His arms out as a declaration of Love. I Love you this much!

His death makes the way – makes us found, holy, acceptable, family.

We know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 peter 1:18-19

In Revelation 5 the elders and angels are declaring the wonder of who Jesus is, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, the one who is worthy, the mighty glorious awesome powerful one… and they worshipped Him “because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.” Revelation 5:9

At communion we remember that Jesus died and won. That He died and won a great victory over satan and sin and death! He won the victory that sets us free to be holy and righteous! He sets us free to know our Heavenly Father and to belong with Him forever beginning right now!

Let us remember what He died for and lets LIVE in the reality of the victory! Knowing God. Being loved by Him.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, Hebrews 10:19-23

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1

Usually communion is quite solemn as we come and Jesus’ sacrifice, but yesterday as I was praying about what to share and say a particular song was playing – and my heart was just again overwhelmed with awe and love and rejoicing at what Jesus won for us – so I invite you to come and and CELEBRATE communion with thankful hearts – with thankful lives – rejoicing in all that Jesus died for – our redemption – our restoration – our reconciliation!
