I have a great fondness for this genre of music and love Chris Quilala’s style and sound. I also love and have great respect for his story and the personal journey of tragedy and triumph his family have faced over the past few years. Its real. This is his anthem.
I love Amanda Cook’s sound and style. I’m not sure if this is a “proper song” or a spontaneous one but I like it.
There’s no space between You and I
You are closer than
The air I’m breathing in
You and I
There is something amazing that happens when we behold God
When we see Him as He is
The psalmist describes it as mountains melting like wax in the presence of God. All else fades away said a more modern psalm singer.
Today, do you need to carve out some time to behold?
We’ve seen Your faithful hand
Your mercy without end
A King who bled and died
A God who sacrificed
Be enthroned upon the praises
Of a thousand generations
You are worthy. Lord of all
Unto You, the slain and risen King
We lift our voices with heaven singing
Worthy, Lord of all
All through this life we lead
And onto eternity
Our endless praise, we’ll cry
Jesus be glorified
It’s been a while since I’ve posted – sorry!
I had a stint in hospital and have been busy with work related stuff. Life.
Time in hospital made me stop. You’re stuck in a bed, its noisy and unfamiliar. Time to stop is an invitation to draw close to God. It is a time for worship and prayer. A time for just being. We are not human doings but human beings and for me hospital time is a very big reminder that doing is not my mandate but being a child of God is. Relationship is more important than doing. My identity is not what I do but WHOSE I am and who I am.
This song was my anthem. Let me become more aware of your goodness, let your presence come. Let me see you more. Let me draw close.
The words of this song are those that sometimes need to be listened to on repeat. It echos the promises of many of the psalms, that God is our refuge, our hiding place, our safety.
United Pursuit have a great sound. Its slightly raw. Deeply authentic.
Their songs about God’s grace and love make my heart rest.
There is no other name by which we can be saved.
No other name that heals us inside and out.
No other name that sets the captive free.
No other name that brings hope and wholeness.
His name is Jesus.
He must increase and I must decrease.
May we live to know Him and make Him known.
There are days when you need a reminder of how awesome God is and how FOR you He is. That He is victorious and mighty.
There is no spiritually neutral group in the world. No spiritually neutral atmospheres. We face a battle for our hearts, minds, behaviours. We are pressed against on every side as Paul would say. But God is with us and for us. He is our shield. Our champion.
Psalm 18 has been my go to passage in the Bible to remind me of these things.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2
You light a lamp for me.
The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.
29 In your strength I can crush an army;
with my God I can scale any wall.
30 God’s way is perfect.
All the Lord’s promises prove true.
He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
31 For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock?
32 God arms me with strength,
and he makes my way perfect.
33 He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
enabling me to stand on mountain heights.
34 He trains my hands for battle;
he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. Psalm 18:28-34
The Lord is our champion. Undefeated.
