By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry.  Then God said to Noah, ‘Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.  Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you – the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground – so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.’  So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. Genesis 8:13-18

They were in the ark for over a year
What a miracle, re animals not eating each other, amount of food required, family together for a year stuck in the ark…
analogy of camping with the family – one rainy week!
but unlike family camping where you can pack up and leave or go for a day trip, there is no way out of the ark for the year…

the ark was Gods plan for Noah’s life
Even with its difficulties and trials

V16 God called Noah out of the ark, to leave behind the things of the past, even the good things God did

Noah had to move out of the ark to fulfil Gods plan

What its the ark on your life?
Old way of thinking

Why do we find it hard to leave the ark?

1 fear of the unknown, arks are safe places, when you’re on the greatest storm of you’re life a ark is a safe place

My experience tells me….
That I can’t trust people
That I can’t do that
It will never work

Don’t listen to the voice of your experience but listen to the voice of God
how often do we make equal the voice of God and the voice of experience?

2 this is what I know. arks are familiar
God constantly deals with our identity

Noah had an occupation change
Prophet to boat builder
Boat builder to ship captain
Ship captain to earth re-populator

Noah was secure in his identity
Your role comes out of your identity
Not your identity coming out of your role

Roles can change
God qualifies us to serve

3 arks are where God once was
Its the call of good vs the thing God is doing
The inability to do something new can hold us back
Leave the dead things behind
Its a new day

Analogy:  Hiroo Onoda
Japanese solider
Sent to a philippines island
Orders to never surrender
War ended, and leaflets were sent but he didn’t believe them
1974 someone finally reached him
And convinced him the war had ended

One of the greatest arks we have to leave behind the life we used to live

The promise and rainbow only came after Noah left the ark
The war is over
Jesus death on the cross had won us victory
