saw this CHALLENGING recap at Rage Against The Minivan and thought i’d give it a go too!  good to reflect on what has been, learn the lesson, and springboard into change for 2014

1. What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?

led a ConnectLIVE group with Leading and Loving It, wore peach, was “pastor for a day”, became a bible in schools teacher

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

yes, i brought more books (last years resolution) and i am in process of making this years resolution

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

no

4. Did anyone close to you die?

no

5. What countries did you visit?

my own – we did some exploring to turangi/taupo and to whiratoa for family holidays

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?

time to exercise (yeah i have to MAKE that time!)

7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

June 11 – Daughters Conf and when my bestie got sick,

Dec 17 – Caleb winning the Rotary Cup at school

Sept 12 – Caleb getting into BBI

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

winning leaders of the year at The River 

9. What was your biggest failure?

transition

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

this year i think was better – no sinusitis (because that was allergy related!) and no norovirus (yay) – still contending with allergy issues and random reactions, so still a work in progress, and still dealing with the sleep disorder

11. What was the best thing you bought?

my black jacket that i last minute brought before our Daughters Conference

12. Where did most of your money go?

dishwasher, car repairs, school fees

13. What did you get really excited about?

preaching, mentoring, relationships

14. What song will always remind you of 2011?

Oceans – Hillsong United

Pompeii – Bastelli (cos the kids sung it at school and i loved it)

Falling Slowly – Once (evangeline’s ballet show song, practicing since March)

I believe – Natalie Grant (evagneline’s river kids christmas dance – i cried about 7 times, every time i saw it live or on recording)

Alive – Young and Free (our Weekender anthem)

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:

– happier or sadder?  about the same, maybe more comfortable or confident

– thinner or fatter? last year i had a norovirus and lost 4 kg overnight… so we’ll say fatter!

– richer or poorer?  about the same, though we’ve just had to buy a new dishwasher and have major car repairs so prob poorer!

16. What do you wish you’d done more of?

be present with my kids

17. What do you wish you’d done less of?

time wasted, spent wastefully

18. How did you spend Christmas?

with my family and tony’s mum – unwrapping presents, reading presents, playing with presents, eating… we had lunch for lunch, dessert for afternoon tea and picked at leftovers for dinner

19. What was your favourite TV program?

well apart from LOST which i think is pretty irreplaceable, i would have to say Person of Interest (because it has Ben and Jesus – Michael Emmerson and Jim Caveziel) and Once Upon A Time (also having a LOST connection)

23. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

i was 37 and i really cant remember what we did to celebrate… its a bit tricky being gluten/dairy/egg/nut free to go out for a meal… i probably cooked an amazing roast or something like that… i think we celebrated it with friends a month afterwards

24. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

intentional social time

25. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?

def the era of the dress – i wore peach for the first time probably ever last night!   i love maxi dresses, flowy, comfy, soft, girly, but i also love my black long tank, match it with a denim jacket and i’m still staunch

26. What kept you sane?

friends, family, ConnectLIVE, me time, LOST, sleep
