happy birthday to antonio – my wonderful husband, who makes me happy, who keeps me sane and the kitchen clean, who is wise and funny, the biggest tease and rich in love.  he’s the man to have in your corner and once you join his “family” you are kept for life.  loyal, determined, true and sweet.  he’s a great dad and a great husband and i’m blessed to be his.

i just really like this song… its not christian – but i like that concept, light it up, we’re going to burn burn burn – for Jesus!  the song is BURN by Ellie Goulding.

How Much Does Your Life Weigh?

In other words, we’re exhausted because we’re trying to rescue ourselves from a meaningless, valueless, worthless existence by what we do and by who we can become. We’re weary because we feel the burden to make it, to get it done, to impress, to earn, to succeed, to be validated. After all, we conclude, our very identity is at stake.

So if the real cause of our exhaustion is the drive to save ourselves, what’s the cure?

In short — it’s the Gospel.

The Gospel of grace frees us from the obsessive pressure to perform, the enslaving demand to become. The Gospel liberatingly declares that in Christ “we already are.”

Here’s some really good news to the weary and heavy laden: Who you really are has nothing to do with you — how much you can accomplish, who you can become, your behavior (good or bad), your strengths, your weaknesses, your past, your present, your future, your family background, your education, your looks. Your identity is firmly anchored in Jesus’ accomplishment, not yours; his strength, not yours; his performance, not yours; his victory, not yours.

at our house when its your birthday you get to pick what we have for dinner.  last night Evangeline chose french toast and bacon.  tonight we’re having roast chicken and veges.   kind of my hubbys choice without him making it.  i’ve got the flu so he said “whatever you can manage” – and a roast is definitely manageable!  esp done jamie oliver flavoured style – inspired by a chicken sub he made the other day on his 15 minute meals show with cumin and oregano …. smells delish!

and as always.  i love Jesus with all i am and all my heart and all my soul and all my days. For His glory and the building of His kingdom and the rescue of the lost.
