this song was sung at the Jesus Culture Awakening Conference 2011.  it has so stirred my heart, esp because as a housegroup leader i see people that need their chains broken.  in my own life i have needed (and need!) chains broken.  Jesus sets me free.  Jesus can break every chain.  He came to set the captive free and He has the power to bring freedom and healing in every and any situation.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:13-15

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,  to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendour. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.  Isaiah 61:1-4

i so saw this powerfully at our women’s conference at church.  amazing transformation and healing by Jesus in the lives of women of all ages and stages.  i love how He does this.  i love that there is no obstacle to what God can do.

there is power in the name of Jesus.

i love jesus’ culture and kim walker smith – they have revolutionised worship and musicality in worship.  when i first became a christian i found the transition with music *difficult*.  one bad pig and amy grant were “hot” back in 1993.  not my cup of tea.  in fact i hate tea.  but someone gave me a Totally Radical III tape, yes tape, and i loved it.  i loved it because it opened my heart towards God and i distinctly remember the day i first listened to it and God came to my bedroom.  MY bedroom.  not just church, not just camp.  MY bedroom.  that is what worship does.
