in a fwe weeks we have our ILLUMINATE Daughters Conference – so excited! this week has been busy organising giveaways and goodie bag treats! i’ve been so impressed by our local community (connected on fb) who have donated goods and services to bless our women. makes my heart sing.
okay while this isn’t perhaps something i totally love, because how sad is it for the diner and how sad it is for jamie but loving the awareness getting out there about allergies and coeliacs. i don’t have coeliacs, i was tested but i don’t have the gene. but i have been told that sometimes an allergy or an intolerance can be worse because a ceoliacs can sometimes eat without symptoms (they so shouldn’t cheat though! so bad for you!) whereas an allergic or intolerant person will react almost immediately and violently. last year i toasted my buns to make a quick chicken roll for dinner before i dashed out to a church leaders meeting. i toasted the buns on top of the paper i had just cooked my kids dinner on. battered chicken nuggets. boom. 1/4 hour into the meeting. i was so unwell. sooooo unwell and didn’t think i would make it home in one piece! i don’t eat out at all now (because i have a complex combo of allergies) but so think restaurants and cafes need to be so vigilant in caring for their diners if they market their food as safe. i also have to point out that i totally love jamie oliver – love his mission, love his tv, love his revolution!
Coeliac sufferer made ‘violently sick’ at Jamie Oliver restaurant: Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant chain was fined £8,000 after a woman who told staff three times she was allergic to gluten was served wheat pasta.
okay so i totally pinched this from Paisley Jade – brilliance… i think is my favourite! no wait the second one is… okay they might all be…
okay so NOT totally loving this nusery spider hanging out on our bbq over right next to the laundry door (we have an outside access to the laundry.) freaked me out. i totally girl screamed and had both of my guys running! of course we then had to catch it, photograph it and then caleb relocated it. on a tree down and across the road. after he went and showed the neighbour. he has then informed me that there may be “family” hanging around our house. great. i’m never going outside again. or opening a door or window.
we had a fun week with my parents up from the South Island – on sunday we also invited Tony’s mum (bottom photo) for the afternoon too. we made the most of a half hour window of sunshine to take some family photos.
and as always. i love Jesus with all i am and all my heart and all my soul and all my days. For His glory and the building of His kingdom and the rescue of the lost.

yesterday we celebrated Mothers Day with the kids and my MIL at the Auckland Museum… the kids loved the Oceans and Land, Weird and Wonderful (eeek those bugs are soooo gross!) and a Kids in the Past exhibits and i loved the vintage clothing and furniture display. we spent a good quarter of an hour watching a pair of geckos to see if they caught any flies. they are amazing creatures! all in all it was a fun day out and about, including compulsory tree climbing, followed by a delish meal back at our house!
You are a warrior who will battle for your children’s hearts, souls, attention, innocence, education and memories.

**** LOVE LOVE LOVE this post on The Fearless Experiment called THE NARROWING. oh its good for the soul, good challenging!
Suffering leads to perseverance. Perseverance to character, character to hope.
The Narrowing: It’s how you begin to feel a new heartbeat. It’s how you discover what’s really important. It’s where you find meaning.
It’s when Someone takes a hammer and a chisel and begins to chip chip chip away at what shouldn’t be there. It’s when Someone sees the masterpiece that lies beneath the rock, and He won’t stop until the excess lies broken and dusty on the floor.
It’s when, slowly and deliberately, chunks of the old you are chiselled away. Pride, self-preservation, comfort, greed, gluttony, and all other things dark and heavy. Those things you don’t speak of. Those things you fear and hate the most. You know.
You know something needs to be done. You know those things will cling to you unless Someone takes up the hammer.
i so love LOVE CAKES. they are gluten free, dairy free, egg free and some other free stuff too, but def not taste free. they are delish and soooo good. today for mothers day i got special shaped muffin tin thingys so spent some of the arvo whipping some love cakes up… shaped like butterflies and bugs!
and as always. i love Jesus with all i am and all my heart and all my soul and all my days. For His glory and the building of His kingdom and the rescue of the lost.

not only was it may the fourth on saturday but i also changed my text tone to reflect the star wars fan-ness that is our family. it now says “message from the darkside” in a yoda voice. it used to be “guys where are we?” (charlie from LOST) but i got so many texts on wednesday night during housegroup (had to keep it on because MIL was going into hospital, my hubby taking her) that i figured a change might be worth it. message from the darkside might be equally hilarious and distracting though. esp during family prayer time… lets just say there were lots of giggles as it went off during a timely pause as evangeline was praying…
i had fun yesterday – first day back at school for the kids – which means first day back into stuff for me… discovered http://www.fotor.com/ and made some collages of the kids (below) and our awesome holiday and then made one for our Daughter’s Conference ILLUMINATE coming up in June

in this digital age i confess i dont buy cds anymore. i buy itunes. i use spotify. so when we packed the car and headed off on holiday i was like eeeek – we need music! grabbed karanga by Cindy Ruakere and it became the soundtrack of the holiday and the soundtrack to my heart. love love love it. i remember the first time listening to this album bursting into tears at a traffic light as my heart was moved for revival and revival in New Zealand. again that passion was stirred. again that love was released. we didnt change the cd. the kids now sing along at full volume. it felt almost like a prophetic declaration as we drove throughout the north island – that this is the day, this is the time!
as i mentioned we fell in love with icarly. we dont have sky at home so it was very exciting to have sky at our unit. and stairs. yes seriously. on thursday (a bit of a tough day at the end) the final ever icarly got played on sky. in fact all day was an icarly day so we came home after a fun day out and then a “nasty discovery” to hug and watch icarly. evangeline had happy tears – i love her soft heart and glistening eyes.
and in the evenings with the kids tucked upstairs and the heat pump on tony and i would watch fringe, season one. rewatching. i love rewatching. almost as much as watching the first time. esp when it comes to fringe lost type programmes with layers and meanings. i confess i cant watch the gross bits but oh how i love it!
this post is totally about things i totally love to the point of addiction… case in point… minties… as a gluten free/dairy free chick my sweet tooth options for travelling are a bit limited… so i’ve fallen in love with minties again…
and as always. i love Jesus with all i am and all my heart and all my soul and all my days. For His glory and the building of His kingdom and the rescue of the lost.

we just had an amazing recharging week away in turangi. we had lots of adventures including fishing at the tongariro national trout centre, rock climbing, maze adventures, mini golf and a trip to the war museum. we also had down time on rainy days (most of the week – though on the times we were out and doing things we had fine weather) incl watching icarly (which we hadnt watched before really) which we are now totally addicted to (and got to watch the final ever episode – which means happy tears from evangeline) and tony and i did a fringe season one marathon. we also made the most of the pool and the spa and ping pong table.

totally love these lost images… i love lost, still. its still my happy place… and funnily the things i watch on tv now are connected to lost. person of interest. once upon a time. fringe. its all lost. i adore the visuals too – and these pictures are just *sigh* so nice! funny yes i know, that something that isnt real, is so a part of my life. but it is. part of the fabric of who i am.
and as always. i love Jesus with all i am and all my heart and all my soul and all my days. For His glory and the building of His kingdom and the rescue of the lost.

this is me service leading (MCing) our sunday night service on sunday… i just love the twinkly lights and the fading… i love our church!
on sunday morning i was priv’d to preach – i spoke on jonah – i love this graphic, found on pinterest (where all cool things are) – i love using visuals when i preach – brings a new dimension for those that are visually wired – and a great place to put awesome quotes! i love preaching, i feel most alive when i’m up the front, though i’m not deep and theological like other speakers, i know that God has given me a voice, uniquely mine, for His glory.
we were blest to have this amazing couple from our housegroup kidnap our kids (with permission and planning) on saturday, taking them to the mall, the movies and to the scooter park. our kids had a fantastic time out and it was great having a saturday arvo (pre preaching) to work on the powerpoint and pray and prepare
soooooooooooo excited about our ILLUMINATE women’s conf coming up in june! i’m stoked to be part of our women’s ministry team this year (officially for the first time!) which means i get to have an inside window into all the fun! annika and i met the other day and had some pinterest fun – thinking colours and design and then “girly” things like pink lemonade and pink jelly beans! loving it! cant wait to see the amazing things that God will do over the weekend – i so cherish our conf weekends, for connecting with God and connecting with the fantastic women in our church and community!
ahhh i love my boy! he is soooo into lego again and makes me smile with his genuine ready smile (and his not so genuine classic faces!)

on friday tony and caleb went to the blues vs highlanders game at eden park – it was the family celebration for his 11th birthday. it involved a trip to mcdonalds for dinner and then a ride on the train into the city and changing trains to head out west to eden park, then a short walk from station to stadium. and of course the reverse on the way home (minus the mcdonalds of course). it was a thrilling game. piri weepu was on form. there were 2 yellow cards aka drama and one guy got knocked out eek! the boys had magnificant views of the try line for all the important scoring.
Last night our women’s ministry DAUGHTERS had a fantastic night together – STEP UP. our gorgeous pastors wife annika shared about stepping up and stepping out – past our past, out of the comfort zone, and into destiny and purpose. we had lots of fun activities and stations for people to meet and mingle at. i love DAUGHTERS because it brings women of of all ages (18+) into one place, together loving and serving, learning and growing. i had some fantastic heart filling conversations that kept me half awake dreaming and redreaming!
We could tell you what we know.
That — depression is like a room engulfed in flames and you can’t breathe for the sooty smoke smothering you limp — and suicide is deciding there is no way but to jump straight out of the burning building.
That when the unseen scorch on the inside finally sears intolerably hot – you think a desperate lunge from the flames and the land of the living seems the lesser of two unbearables.
Our Bible says Jesus said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick.” Jesus came for the sick, not for the smug. Jesus came as doctor and He makes miracles happen through medicine and when the church isn’t for the suffering, then the Church isn’t for Christ.
Because we are the Body of the Wounded Healer and we are the people who believe the impossible — that wounds can be openings to the beauty in us.
We’re the people who say: there’s no shame saying that your heart and head are broken because there’s a Doctor in the house. It’s the wisest and the bravest who cry for help when lost.
There’s no stigma in saying you’re sick because there’s a wounded Healer who uses nails to buy freedom and crosses to resurrect hope and medicine to make miracles.
There’s no guilt in mental illness because depression is a kind of cancer that attacks the mind. You don’t shame cancer, you treat cancer. You don’t treat those with hurting insides as less than. You get them the most treatment.

elevation church have amazing creative people on their team… i was incredibly moved by this easter presentation, a wonderful analogy of jesus, the sin remover, the life giver
On a Friday morning, two thousand years ago, Jesus stood before the people, and Pilate declared, “Behold the man!” It was the sixth day of the week, the day God created man. And now the second Adam was undoing the first Adam’s sin.
Adam was always meant to wear a crown. Now Jesus would wear one.
Adam had been sentenced to toil among the thorns. Now Jesus would have those thorns twisted into His brow.
Adam was ashamed of his failure and sought to hide behind fig leaves. Now Jesus would wear the purple robe and hear the taunts of the mockers.
The hands of humanity that reached out for the forbidden fruit were the fists that beat the face of the precious Savior.
“Behold the man!” Pilate didn’t know what he was saying, but John the apostle did. Jesus is the perfect man. The image of the invisible God, the beginning and the end, the One in whom all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell. The one who shows us what God always intended humanity to be like. He is the One who takes the shame of our sin and bears the mockery of evil.
