“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.”
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
i love love love this passage! and because i love it i live my life on it.
you see most people only read the eye has not seen and ear not heard nor has the heart compherended God and leave it at that - happy to accept that yes, God is indescrible, awesome, big, great, wow type thing. which he so is. God is a mystery and wonderous and indescribable and allpowerful and amazing.
BUT….! (one of the best buts in the bible i reckon!)
BUT God has revealed these things – what are the these things?
The things that eye has not seen, or ear heard, or heart compherened – these things He has revealed to us His children because He lives inside us!
isn’t that wow!
It means that we can know God, hear God, live for God, honour God, walk with God, be known by God, have relationship with God, know His will and His ways etc etc etc.
i don’t take it as that we can know every minute detail of God or even the big picture but we can know so much more and so easier than we think or limit ourselves.
Remember, Jesus died on the cross to make a new and living way to God, so we are now acceptable, righteous, holy and his children, part of the family. We can boldly approach the throne of grace, the veil that was between man and God is gone, torn, destroyed by the work of Jesus on the cross!
and now The Holy Spirit lives within us – God IN me. He teaches and guides us. wow. wow. so be excited and freed by the reality that eye can see and ear can hear and our heart can know the good things that God has prepared for us because He lives within us and reveals those things to us.

i love romans 12:1-2 and tonight at housegroup we’re looking at the whole chapter… so the other day i re-read it and i discovered something wonderful… romans 12 begins with the exhortion to not conform to the pattern of the world, but to be renewed by the Word of God… and then it goes on, from verse 9 and gives us guidelines that follow the pattern we SHOULD conform to, God’s ways and His will… its a great pattern for relating to people, and really relevant for my awesome young adults housegroup…
Romans 12 – A Pattern For Real Life
Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That’s the most sensible way to serve God. Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.
- be sincere in loving others
- hate EVERYTHING that is evil
- hold onto the good things
- love each other like family
- honour others above yourself
- never give up
- eagerly follow the Holy Spirit
- serve God
- let hope make you glad
- be patient in hard times
- never give up praying
- take care of those in need
- welcome everyone, even into your home and personal space
- live opposite – bless instead of curse when you are cursed
- joy with joy, weep with weeping – true caring and sharing life
- be friendly to everyone
- dont get a suprierioty complex

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. NIV
Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That’s the most sensible way to serve God. Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him. CEV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. NKJV
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. MSG
I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Romans 12:1-2

the truth of God sets us free from our sins and our fears – and fear is rooted in the lies we tell ourselves – we do not need to be afraid of people, we do not need to be afraid of pain/loss/evil, we do not need to be afraid of death. these are rooted in the lies that God is not with us and not almighty God and not at work with purpose. if we confront the lies with the truth of the Word of God and who God is then we will walk in freedom from fear! God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind! We need to be people that have FAITH not fear. Faith is trust in God, that God will protect us, that GOd is at work, that God is in control, that God is Lord of our life. Dont live in fear. Dont let fear restrict. Live in freedom!
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.
Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 27
A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Hebrews 13:6
So we may boldly say: “ The LORD is my helper;I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Matthew 10:31
Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Dear friends, don’t forget that for the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years is the same as one day. The Lord isn’t slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost. 2 Peter 3:8-9
The LORD will have his day. And when it comes, everything that was ever taken from Jerusalem will be returned and divided among its people. But first, he will bring many nations to attack Jerusalem–homes will be robbed, women raped, and half of the population dragged off, though the others will be allowed to remain. The LORD will attack those nations like a warrior fighting in battle. He will take his stand on the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem, and the mountain will split in half, forming a wide valley that runs from east to west. Then you people will escape from the LORD’s mountain, through this valley, which reaches to Azal. You will run in all directions, just as everyone did when the earthquake struck in the time of King Uzziah of Judah. Afterwards, the LORD my God will appear with his holy angels. It will be a bright day that won’t turn cloudy. And the LORD has decided when it will happen–this time of unending day. In both summer and winter, life-giving streams will flow from Jerusalem, half of them to the Dead Sea in the east and half to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. Then there will be only one LORD who rules as King and whose name is worshiped everywhere on earth. Zecharian 14:1-9
Thrones were set up
while I was watching,
and the Eternal God took his place.
His clothing and his hair
were white as snow.
His throne was a blazing fire
with fiery wheels,
10and flames were dashing out
from all around him.
Countless thousands
were standing there
to serve him.
The time of judgment began,
and the books were opened. I watched closely to see what would happen to this smaller horn because of the arrogant things it was saying. Then before my very eyes, the fourth beast was killed and its body destroyed by fire. The other three beasts had their authority taken from them, but they were allowed to live a while longer. As I continued to watch the vision that night, I saw what looked like
a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven,
and he was presented
to the Eternal God.
He was crowned king
and given power and glory,
so that all people
of every nation and race
would serve him.
He will rule forever,
and his kingdom is eternal,
never to be destroyed.
Daniel 7:9-14
I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea. Then I saw New Jerusalem, that holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:
God’s home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.
Then the one sitting on the throne said:
I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty. All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Revelation 21:1-7
Matthew 25:31-32 When the Son of Man comes in his glory with all of his angels, he will sit on his royal throne. The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.
Matthew 25:13 So, my disciples, always be ready! You don’t know the day or the time when all this will happen.
36No one knows the day or hour. The angels in heaven don’t know, and the Son himself doesn’t know. Only the Father knows. 37When the Son of Man appears, things will be just as they were when Noah lived. 38People were eating, drinking, and getting married right up to the day that the flood came and Noah went into the big boat. 39They didn’t know anything was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man appears. 40Two men will be in the same field, but only one will be taken. The other will be left. 41Two women will be together grinding grain, but only one will be taken. The other will be left. 42So be on your guard! You don’t know when your Lord will come. 43Homeowners never know when a thief is coming, and they are always on guard to keep one from breaking in. 44Always be ready! You don’t know when the Son of Man will come. Matthew 24:36-44
Matthew 24:27 The coming of the Son of Man will be like lightning that can be seen from east to west.
Matthew 24:29-31
Right after those days of suffering,
“The sun will become dark,
and the moon
will no longer shine.
The stars will fall,
and the powers in the sky will be shaken.”
Then a sign will appear in the sky. And there will be the Son of Man. All nations on earth will weep when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. At the sound of a loud trumpet, he will send his angels to bring his chosen ones together from all over the earth.
We believe that Jesus died and was raised to life. We also believe that when God brings Jesus back again, he will bring with him all who had faith in Jesus before they died. Our Lord Jesus told us that when he comes, we won’t go up to meet him ahead of his followers who have already died.
With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God’s trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken up into the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever. Encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18
When our Lord Jesus returns, we will be gathered up to meet him. So I ask you, my friends, not to be easily upset or disturbed by people who claim that the Lord has already come. They may say that they heard this directly from the Holy Spirit, or from someone else, or even that they read it in one of our letters. But don’t be fooled! People will rebel against God. Then before the Lord returns, the wicked one who is doomed to be destroyed will appear. He will brag and oppose everything that is holy or sacred. He will even sit in God’s temple and claim to be God. Don’t you remember that I told you this while I was still with you? You already know what is holding this wicked one back until it is time for him to come. His mysterious power is already at work, but someone is holding him back. And the wicked one won’t appear until that someone is out of the way. Then he will appear, but the Lord Jesus will kill him simply by breathing on him. He will be completely destroyed by the Lord’s glorious return.
9When the wicked one appears, Satan will pretend to work all kinds of miracles, wonders, and signs. Lost people will be fooled by his evil deeds. They could be saved, but they will refuse to love the truth and accept it. So God will make sure that they are fooled into believing a lie. All of them will be punished, because they would rather do evil than believe the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
whatever happens and in whatever timeframe – i think these two relevation verss are pretty key and easy to discern their meaning and then go and make it real in our lives.
This means that God’s people must learn to endure and be faithful! Revelation 3:10
God’s people must learn to endure. They must also obey his commands and have faith in Jesus. Revelation 14:12
they will be part of my message this week to our young adults church.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Christ sacrificed his life’s blood to set us free, which means that our sins are now forgiven. Christ did this because God was so kind to us. Ephesians 1:7
But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much that he made us alive with Christ, and God’s wonderful kindness is what saves you. Ephesians 2:4
God’s Son has all the brightness of God’s own glory and is like him in every way. By his own mighty word, he holds the universe together. After the Son had washed away our sins, he sat down at the right side of the glorious God in heaven. hebrews 1:3
We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. Ephesians 6:12
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12
In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people. Romans 8:26-27
Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon their knees.
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit. James 5:16-18
Promises:
Know WHO GOD IS
Know WHAT God promises to do and be like
GOD WILL act in accordance with his character
We find the promises of God contained in the Word of God
Prayer is:
talking to God
worshipping God
seeking God
asking God
requesting God
reminding God
engaging God
listening to God
being specific about our wants/needs to God
declaring the truth about God
speaking to our own mind and heart
speaking to other spiritual powers
intimate
personal
conversational
purposeful
task orientated
there is NO right way to pray: pray with faith, humilty and truth/sincerity
prayer can be: loud, quiet, contemplative, worshipful, declaring, aggressive, peaceful, questioning, conversational, specific, warring, meditative, organic
different times and events and seasons require different styles and types and flavours of prayer…
LEARN FROM GOD
BE LED BY GOD
sometimes the most right words are to groan and sigh. it is not about rituals and formulas. God doesnt listen to the most eloquent prayers but he listens to his beloved children pray. its about HEART CONDITION not eloquence and sounding spiritual
