Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down,
that the mountains would tremble before you!
2 As when fire sets twigs ablaze
and causes water to boil,
come down to make your name known to your enemies
and cause the nations to quake before you!
3 For when you did awesome things that we did not expect,
you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.
4 Since ancient times no one has heard,
no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides you,
who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.
5 You come to the help of those who gladly do right,

Blessings of His presence

1 exodus 33.14 REST The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’

2 psalm 16.11 JOY You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

3 psalm 31.20 SHELTER In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues.

4 isaiah 63.9 DELIVERANCE In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

5 acts 3.19 REFRESHING Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord

Things that attract His presence

God meets with those who seek holiness
Righteousness comes in two forms, imputed gift of God through Jesus Christ and practical worked out

 

Rejoicing
Worship

 

Waiting, His time schedule
Hunger fuels waiting
Corporate and personal

 

Remember, what He has done
Israelites were commanded to build memorials
Meditate upon what God has said
Meditate upon His works, His works in our life

 

Things that detract His presence

Righteousness brings God
Sin causes blockages, careless living

Worship draws God
Failure to worship and indifference repeals Him

waiting draws
Busyness becomes a barrier
Busyness produces barrenness
