is there anyone else with me on this?
and the mini series?
it was on tv last night here in New Zealand.
you see its not so much the cinematography, or the costumes, because i adore them
its the subject
and the disturbedness of it all
once they hit the ice berg
i cant watch
i’m so disturbed i even feel like throwing up
and i am certain i wont sleep for the night
i first saw the movie after been on a 12 day beach mission with a bunch of young people from church
me and the carload of people that drove 6 hours back home decided to go to the movie, it had just come out
so before going home to shower or even to eat
we went
ended up in row 3 on the end
i was cold, hungry and peed a lot
yes all factors that contributed to my instense dislike of the movie
but it got to that point again in it
when they lock the lower class into their lower levels
and they fill the life boats with the rich, the few rich
and when it all goes pear shape
the children, the mothers, the fathers, the newly weds, the HUMAN BEINGS
abandoned
the injustice stinks, reeks, disturbs
but really its more than that
you see
what i feel most
when i watch titanic
is conviction
that we’re on the boat ourselves
and its going down
and we know the way of rescue and are at the lifeboats
but are we taking the other people with us
or locking them out and shoving them out of our way or indifferently not caring
the gospel is the way, the rescue
the boat is going down
will i share what hope i have, what certainty i have?
* i think this post well describes the response we should have to the world and the lost…

i love love love what you shared – was funny, i wrote and posted this post, and then your one “popped into my inbox” and i thought thats so what we need to be doing… and instead of writing out more about it i thought it was easier and right to add the link, because you said it all! love that bill johnson quote in it too: “The impossible bows down to the name of Jesus.” ~ Bill Johnson.
