Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:10-12
as christians we live in a war zone. we are saved and sent. redeemed and recruited. we are part of God’s glorious plan to see people come to know Him. anyone that wants to be used by God will face contention and battle. the war zone touches evey area of our life. the great strategy of the enemy has always being the same, right from the beginning. God isnt who He says He is, and He doesnt mean what He says. He aims to distract and diswade us from knowing God and living for Him. he hates that we are children of God.
his goal is the same as it was in the garden. he exists to silence God’s message of hope and genuine relationship with His children. don’t pick up the lies the enemy is putting down. @stickyjesus
But I am just so mindful today that as the sun streams through my windows, that HIS mercies are new, fresh, alive and ENOUGH for us every morning. Whatever season you may find yourself in, whether in lack or abundance or somewhere in the middle, that God and His grace abounds for each one of us. In this, we can be confident. So, my prayer for you today as you head into all that God has in store, is that you would be aware of His goodness, aware of His presence, and aware that His goodness does not RUN OUT… so with that in mind, make choices that honour His name and call on your life, and that will bring Him great glory. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25
i love the phrase LET US KEEP IN STEP WITH THE SPIRIT
my prayer today is that i will keep in step with His leading and His loving and His ways
that i would be a fruity fruitful christian
that the characteristics that God delights in would be evident and growing in my life
and that i would always walk with Him
drawing closer
knowing His love and mercy and faithfulness and goodness
to and through me
let me not walk my own way
let me not walk to the left of the right
but in step with the Holy Spirit
Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanour, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching. And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed—keep that dusted off and in use. Cultivate these things. Immerse yourself in them. The people will all see you mature right before their eyes! Keep a firm grasp on both your character and your teaching. Don’t be diverted. Just keep at it. Both you and those who hear you will experience salvation. 1 Timothy 4:11-16
SPEAKER: Holly Furtick – The Gift of Ministry @ JustONE Virtual Conference at LEADING AND LOVING IT
And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed—keep that dusted off and in use 1 Timothy
Holly does an amazing session about not riding on the spiritual coattails of your husband or church, but about the importance of having your OWN connection and relationship with God, that will sustain and inspire you as you pour out to those around you, your husband, your family, your people
Having a strong relationship with Christ requires WORK
we have to have our OWN relationship with Jesus
it will give you strength to stand and to weather any storm
God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and has put everything in you for the post that YOU are at
even if your husband is the pastor, YOU have your own gifts and ministry and purpose
there is no shortcuts
1 bible reading
2 prayer
its not some legalistic thing, ticking the boxes
it takes more
God knows that you’re raising a family and ministering to others – God knows your life
have a intentional living relationship with Christ, personal and real and growing
here are some of Holly’s great ideas to keep your relationship with Jesus alive: making it a priority throughout your day
1 listen to good preaching, feed your spirit – and good life things like Focus on the Family, good teaching to help us grow and keep us thinking
2 listen to worship music, even when you’re doing housework, it keeps your heart turned to Him
3 maximise your moments in the car with the kids – speak life and destiny over their lives
4 try to speak the name of Jesus, there is power in the name of Jesus
5 listen to the Word of God out loud – read it to yourself or download it (youversion)
6 personally lead a small group – having to prepare for a group keeps us fresh and connected
our relationship has to sustain us
God wants to pour into us in unique ways –
but we have to LET Him pour INTO us before we POUR out to others
if God’s not pouring into you you will run dry
its not about adding more to your life but about living a life that breathes Jesus every second of the day
keeping it dusted off and in use
