Knowing the truth of what GOD says about you will set you free to be you.
Many people are bound up in untruths and deceptions from the enemy – and insults and criticisms and rejections and judgements that people have told us that the enemy has used to construct a prison of limitations. But Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and set us free.
How WE see ourselves has power and influence in our lives:
We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them. Numbers 13:33
Because the Israelites saw themselves as small, powerless, and insignificant they were then seen as small, powerless, insignificant grasshoppers by the people possessing the promised land. It was the peoples perception of themselves that limited their ability to take the land and have faith in God. It was the peoples incorrect perception of themselves that hijacked them fulfilling the call of God.
God’s Word is the truth. It is the truth about spiritual things and about who He is and about how we are to live our lives. It is the truth about what God can do and will do and it is the truth about who He has made us to be.
God’s Word must be elevated to the place where it is the last word in our lives.
God’s Word is the final authority in our lives.
What God says goes.
What God says is the way it is.
Not just in the DOING of our lives but in the BEING of our lives.
Not just in the DOING – the be kind and be generous, don’t give in to lust and anger and lying and ten commandments type stuff, but in the BEING of our lives – I am LOVED, I am FORGIVEN, I am PRECIOUS.
The Essential 100 Challenge (E100) helps you get an overview of the Bible… without getting bogged down. The Plan guides you through 50 Old Testament passages and 50 New Testament passages — The Essential 100 — so you can see the big picture of God’s Word, and form a daily Bible reading habit in the process. E100 is an achievable way to have a "through the Bible" experience; it’s the Bible reading plan people love to complete.
our mums group are reading through the E100 together (well in our own personal time and then collaborating and discussing it through the week at our mums coffee group) – we have a mix of brand new christians, newish christians, and long time christians. the thing about the E100 that i love is that it gives you a good grasp of the major themes of the bible and the major people so that as you continue on reading the Word you have a greater understanding or overall picture to context things with.
personally i love the M’Cheyne Bible plan, which you can also find on YOUVERSION, featuring four different readings for use in both family and personal devotions. Each day has two passages from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and one from either the Psalms or the Gospels. In one year, you read the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice. i have done this plan for the last 5-6 years.
in the last year or so though i have mutated the M’Cheyne to fit where i am at and my routine. this year, well since about November last year though i decided to read several chpts in order through the NT and also a few psalms. i’m currently in 2 Corinthians.
back to the E100 for today.
God said, "Let there be light." And so light appeared. Gen 1:3
And God said . . . and there was
God said "let there be". . . and it was so
God said "let there be". . . and it was so
God said "let there be". . . and it was so
God said "let there be". . . and it was so
God said "let there be". . . and it was so
God said "let there be". . . and it was so
this phrase, this speaking, this commanding and then this doing and this creating is probably one of my favourite things about genesis 1. God speaks and there was. there was nothing, and then God spoke and that thing He wrapped words around became reality. that is raw power. amazing. i love that that is who our God is, esp with the emphasis on the Word of God and Him speaking to us and the Holy Spirit dwelling within us and speaking to us and how Jesus in john 1 is the Word of God made flesh. dont ever underestimate God speaking to us… His Words are powerful and creative!
