Hi Claire
I suspect many will disagree with my thoughts, however, I must speak them.
I know that what Rick says here is a commonly held view, but how do we get to this conclusion that someone else may fail to get into heaven because of my carelessness.
People worry about all sorts of sin, but if the above statement was actually true, then the biggest sin in all eternity would be to condemn our neighbours, friends, and work colleagues to an eternal damnation just because we get out of bed on the wrong side some mornings!
I have to say that I just I don’t think it is so. My God is bigger than my laziness or incompetence.
I believe that we are definitely responsible for the version of Christ which we portray to these people. However it is not about their eternal state but about the Kingdom of Heaven being near unto us, ie Christ alive, powerful AND WORKING IN ME today.
Sadly the church all too often portrays anything but a powerful redeeming Christ.

I think we are blessed that God chooses to use us to reach others. How it all works out in the end…only God knows!

hi frank, nice to see you again! thanks for your comment.
i have never seen the quote in that light – to me it is a totally positive inspiration that there are people arund us that God has placed there that we can demonstrate his love and goodness too and that we are designed and created to be the witness. i am designed and created for God to use. i am called and God can use me! ME! and that teh way i see things and the way i speak and the heart i have and the mind i have are the right “style” and flavour to reach some people. and that is exciting to partner with God, that he chooses to empower us and equip us and call us to spread the good news of his grace and mercy! and that the reward of us stepping out is that peoples lives are changed for eternity.
i agree – God is so much bigger than our complacecny and laziness and incompetence. i am so glad! i am so glad it is his Holy Spirit that draws people to himself!
oh i pray that we would all be good ambassadors for our Lord!
