Ephesians 1:15-21 Therefore I also, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love to all the saints, do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us, the ones believing according to the working of His mighty strength which He worked in Christ in raising Him from the dead, and He seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies, far above all principality and authority and power and dominion, and every name being named, not only in this world, but also in the coming age.
I know for most of us this is familiar and wonderful, but again something jumped out and connected with me when i read this recently.
The whole segment is WOW but the bit that made me stop and read it a few times and talk to Jesus about it was v 19…
Paul prays that we will know…. what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us…
other versions say:
(GNB) and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength
(ISV) and the unlimited greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his mighty strength,
and it goes on to say that this strength, mightly umlimited power is the same that raised jesus christ from the death. that amazing wonderful almighty power is at work in us. wow.
it made me ask what is that power doing in my life???
is that power showing and flowing in my life?
am i utalizing that power? not for power sake but to reach the lost and encoruage the hopeless towards hope, to comfort the broken hearted, to set the captive free….?
am i using the power of God that God has placed within me for his glory and his kingdom?
am i allowing God to shape me and transform me?
